Jah Tubby vs Rema Havana Club, Derby 12-8-1983
A wicked dance this one and it comes in 2 parts so you get almost 3 hours of it. Jah Tubbs is the ruler here and even without his mic men he absolutley tears it up. It's Keith alone working the sound and on mic duties and he can't resist making Rema pay for incorrectly saying one of their tunes is recorded at King Tubby's when it's a Channel One production. He is really firing on all cylinders in this session and with his box of dubs you know there can be only one outcome..... Tubbs the winner!!

A real shame that this one is so short as it is Ruff!! About 25 minutes from this dance and only Jah Tubbs side of the proceedings.

This is one courtesy of the Jerry/WCTD connection, the tapes were marked Dreadbeat at the Dub Club but we now know that they are in fact recordings of the Mighty Penny Reel in session at the Dub Club. A fantastic selection of tunes are thrown down by Jah Reel and with the Addition of Clapper Priest & co on mic duties help to make this one essential listening...
Penny had this to say about the dance which comes in 3 parts:
" This was a session I played at the Dub Club run by Nicky Ezer. Clapper Priest and Ramon Judah joined me on mic on the night. It was the first and only time I ever met the guy who runs Twilight Circus, who was there. Other visitors were Barry Isaacs, Fatman, Clive Wax, Lloydie Coxsone, Kelso Christian. It must have taken place in the mid-1990s.”

USA Roots Reggae Dub Expo San Diego 18-9-2010

USA Roots Reggae Dub Expo 2010 – San Diego Report
On Saturday, September 18th, 2010 one year of collaborative organizing and promotional efforts came to fruition with the San Diego chapter of the USA Roots Reggae Dub Expo. This was the second half of the 2010 expo, the first half taking place a month earlier in Baltimore.
Roughly 130 lucky souls made their way to the Mainline Building in San Diego, CA for this night of spiritual edification, upliftment and praises through Roots Reggae and Dub music. Even though the dance was supposed to start at 9:00 pm, attendees were showing up for the dance as early as 7:30 pm. The attendees were excited and the sense of anticipation was high – you could feel it in the air.
As people filtered in, they would tell us where they came from, and many traveled far to attend this dance! We had people from all over the west coast, a crew from the east coast, and some from the Midwest. We even had a crew fly in from the U.K. to attend.
The sound systems and organizers arrived earlier in the afternoon to help set up the venue and their sounds. Sound Systems in attendance were BlackHeart Warriors – who also served as hosts to this event, Humble Tafari aka Wildfyah Sound, A.P.S. who brought their own powerful set, Ras Kush of Black Redemption, Mystic from NYC, and Brizion from San Diego.
After testing and tuning up, the sounds started up at about 9:30 pm and played in rotation until 5:00 am. It’s hard to describe how great this dance was. There was a Rastafari Family vibe in the air – the musical selections were top notch. Some of the top U.S. sounds were in attendance, and all played in top form. There was a powerful unity of spirit in the dance. Many dubplates were played, and the sounds were encouraging to each other. This was a powerful event that will serve as a blueprint for future U.S.A. collective efforts.
Give thanks to the following organizations and people for supporting the 2010 Expo. Without these people, the Expo would not have happened: Ras Farms, Satori Movement, Collective Black People Movement, Ital Productions, Ceska aka Fasimbas, Humble Tafari, Livity International and Abigene, Sis Amanda, Kris Naphtali and Brizion, Peter aka Lionheart, Irie Up Magazine, Chef TJ, I-Meditation, Word Sound Power Collective, Sis Leenites, A.P.S.
